
Orange County educators are invited to apply to become a UCI History Project Fellow. This professional learning opportunity includes an honorarium and year-round support for engaging in developing lessons focused on Relational Stories of Solidarity in Southern California from an Ethnic Studies lens.
UCI Libraries Department of Special Collections & Archives (which includes the Orange County & Southeast Asian Archive Center), the UCI History Project have collaborated with Dr. Kaaryn Gustafson, UCI Professor of Law, Director, Center on Law, Equality and Race, to create a professional development series for Orange County educators. This professional development series is meant for 6th-12th grade educators. Teachers will have access to primary sources available at UCI, meet and learn from UCI scholars and archivists, and engage in a series of activities with the ultimate goal of creating Ethnic Studies lessons.
Educator Commitments:
- Engage in a professional development series and create lessons, from June 20-21, 2023, at the UCI Orange County & Southeast Asian Archive Center.
- Implement lessons during the 2023-2024 school year.
- Present developed curriculum at the UCI Orange County & Southeast Asian Archive Center during the Spring of 2024.
A cohort of six (6) Teacher Fellows will be selected and fellows will receive an honorarium. Completed applications must be received by May 10, 2023. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
