New Online After-School Series

We're excited to announce a new online after-school series of workshops and discussion groups for history-social science teachers, organized by grade level:  Grade Groups.  Each group will meet seven times during the school year, to hear presentations (by university professors, experienced teacher leaders, and teacher educators) and participate in discussions about recent educational and disciplinary research, share and get feedback on lessons, and collaborate on new curriculum.

Grade groups will provide a unique opportunity for local teachers to collaborate with educators and scholars across California to collectively address the multiple challenges teachers face. Educators will discuss how to: 1) engage students while teaching remotely; 2) integrate anti-racism into their courses; and 3) assess student learning from a distance. Grade groups will highlight an online inquiry model of instruction, designed to engage student interest and support student learning.

Schedule:
Sneak Preview - On September 24, Grade Groups held a sneak preview of the series featuring a special presentation by USC Rossier School of Education Professor, Mary Helen Immordino-Yang, Ed.D. on the Impact of Trauma on the Cognitive and Emotional Development of Children.  This session was recorded and can be accessed by clicking this link.
