The Marchand Public Engagement Initiative is Expanding!
Quick Summary
- The Marchand Center connects faculty, educators, students, and policy makers to the Marchand Initiative
The Roland Marchand Center for Public Engagement is an exciting product of the Marchand Public Engagement Initiative, an innovative and collaborative partnership between the UC Davis History Department, the California History-Social Science Project (CHSSP), the Office of Academic Diversity and the Hispanic Serving Institutions Initiative. The Marchand Initiative currently employs two interns engaging in public-facing research that have resulted in curriculum development, archival exhibits, conference workshops, and more. As a result of the Initiative's great success, the California History-Social Science Project is expanding the reach and scope of the initiative into the Roland Marchand Center for Public Engagement.
The Marchand Center for Public Engagement seeks interested UC Davis students to join the diverse team of educators, scholars, and educational leaders. The Marchand Center specifically invites UC Davis undergraduate and graduate students to apply to join the 2023-24 Marchand Associates - university students working to improve public education, connect scholarship with practice, and expand public service to advance equity in our schools.
Marchand Associates will have a unique opportunity to develop valuable professional skills, engage in public service, and earn money to support their education. More specifically, students will support the work of three related K-12 education-focused entities: the California History-Social Science Project, the Area 3 Writing Project, and the California Subject Matter Project.
For a detailed description of the three different employment opportunities, please view the Marchand Center for Public Engagement Call for Applicants and be sure to fill out the brief Google Form to express your interest. We will review applications with a rolling deadline of May 12.
