Teaching Media Literacy for Civic Engagement

Join us this October 20th for a virtual Media Literacy Collaborative workshop co-hosted by the UC Irvine Teacher Academy and The History & Civics Project at UC Santa Cruz. 

Reserve your spot now for this free workshop where you will learn from Media Scholar Allison Perlman who will present her talk, "Contextualizing Media Controversies: Censorship, Bias, and Distortion in Historical Perspective," discussing how to identify and unpack media narratives so we can skillfully navigate our own media consumption in the current media landscape. Educator will also be introduced to open-access classroom tested-lessons that support students as consumers, curators, and producers to foster civic engagement.
