Integrated Action Civics Using Expressions of Power to Examine Birthright Citizenship
 
Event Description:
On Tuesday, February 10th, at 4:30 p.m., UCBHSSP will provide a brief introduction to the Integrated Action Civics Project. This approach combines change analysis strategies with course content to deepen students' understanding. The session will highlight “Expressions of Power”, introducing five distinct ways power can show up in society. These concepts and terms provide students with more nuanced tools to analyze both contemporary and historical events, as well as developing skills to engage in civic action. Classroom ready lesson will be presented exploring an early case establishing birthright citizenship in the United States. The session is free and will be virtual. IACP is a program of the UC Berkeley History-Social Science Project.
