Join us for our 2024 Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) Conference on Saturday, April 27, 2024!

The Mann UCLA Youth Participatory Action Research Conference will be held on April 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Mann UCLA Community School, 7001 St Andrews Pl, Los Angeles, CA 90047.  Admission is free and includes breakfast and lunch.

The conference will feature workshops by both high school students and community organizations that focus on areas of student activism, including issues such as access to clean drinking water, the prison-industrial complex, and creating more sports programming within their school.

The UCLA Mann Youth Participatory Action Research Conference is the second annual conference dedicated to fostering youth empowerment. The conference was initiated in order to challenge injustices facing students and communities of color, such as inequitable access to educational resources and the criminalization of young people of color. Several of the teachers that are organizing and preparing students are educator fellows part of a Youth Participatory Action Research Ethnic Studies Initiative that is a collaboration between East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice, UCI History Project, Integrated Action Civics part of the UC Berkeley History-Social Science Project, and the California Math Project.
