Advancing Student Learning & Literacy
The California History-Social Science Project (CHSSP) is a statewide network of scholars and K-12 teachers, headquartered in the Department of History at the University of California, Davis.
Each year, close to 4,000 K-12 teachers attend CHSSP programs in person and online; thousands more download free curriculum and teaching resources from our website.
Our approach to instruction integrates content, disciplinary understanding, and explicit support for English language proficiency, framed in an inquiry model of historical investigation. All CHSSP programs and resources are aligned with the Common Core State Standards and both the English Language Development Standards and the History-Social Science Standards for the state of California.
CHSSP is a member of the California Subject Matter Projects (csmp.ucop.edu).
